“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” Life has been a little crazy lately as we are in between homes until our house closes in a couple weeks!! Whoohoo! More on that later!!! But seriously, this boy has grown up overnight. He is now in first grade and his interests are friends, movies, and gymnastics. This was while he was putting on a gymnastics show for us. He is so adventurous, I love it. It… Read more »

This morning between packing lunches, tucking in shirts, fixing hair, and tying shoes, I looked at you. Both of you. I looked at you and breathed in all that I saw. One covered in freckles with sun kissed cheeks and one with missing teeth and a little toothpaste smudged on his cheek. I looked at your faces and I prayed. I looked at your smiles through the mirror as we drove in to school today, and I imagined the way… Read more »

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week in 2014.” My eight year old. We celebrated him Sunday with a party at the roller skating rink. I can say it was one of the best parties we have had in awhile. All the stress and excitement of moving has really been pulling our attention from the small things. But yesterday we laughed, we smiled, we were silly and carefree, and we enjoyed every second. So intensely counting his… Read more »

Eight. Today you are eight. Eight years ago you came into this world and made me a mom. It’s beyond me how the time has gone that fast. You are no longer a baby, you are growing into a boy. A sweet hardworking, feisty, strong, smart, loving, thoughtful, amazing little boy. You are patient with me. I will forever be thankful for that buddy. I apologize to you more than I would like to, but you always forgive me. You… Read more »

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014″ This boy cracked me up all weekend. We spent the weekend of the Fourth up at the ranch. And in small town fashion they had a really fun parade Friday morning. And parades mean candy. And this boy, like I have said before, feels love through food. So he waved that little flag with all his heart and soul trying to get every piece of candy he could…. Read more »

I read once that you can’t keep having babies just because you like having babies. Such wisdom right?! At least for me. I love babies. I love everything about a newborn. Being pregnant, the birth, breastfeeding, waking up at all hours, co-sleeping, baby wearing,  all of it. I guess that’s why I have four babes. Only thing is, those babies, yea, they grow up. Having little people is tough. I am embarking on this new stage of parenthood and it… Read more »

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” We bought a water slide this week to try and keep us content with staying home. Well, the water slide was teeny tiny compared to the big boys so mama made it more fun. We doused the slide with baby oil and they went sliding. See, I can be the cool mom, sometimes. They loved it, the slide popped, and their hair is still greasy, success. Action shot…. Read more »

“A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014.” This boy will be eight next month. Eight. I cannot believe I can possibly have an eight year old. I think back to when I was that age and now I wonder how my parents felt. It’s weird to think of your parents young, or how your mom felt when she was navigating through her motherhood journey. I think that’s why I love this blog. The idea that… Read more »

They’ve disappeared, but I know I can always find them by listening. I hear the giggles. At first quiet and muffled but as I walk towards them they grow. They are the giggles that are mixed with screams and belly laughs. Belly laughs are my favorite. They sound like the soul is bubbling up and over almost as if it’s escaping out to reach those around you. Yes, those laughs are my favorite, but hearing those laughs come out of the… Read more »

The 52 Project: A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014. It’s summer, and we are lazy. It’s a good kind of lazy though, like a sleep in, have fun, go out and about, and relax kind of lazy. This boy loves his sleep, and you know when he needs more of it, kinda like his mama. He is so grown, all arms and legs, and I would say of all of them, he is loving… Read more »
